Summer at Journey to Hope

We are right in the middle of summer here at Journey to Hope and want speak with you about a few summer happenings,

We have decided to change our schedule around a little in support of those of you who are experiencing Furlough Fridays. We are planning to work most Fridays though October, so that we can offer those times to you without you having to take additional time off for your counseling appointments. As a result, we will go to working every other Monday during this time. Hope this makes a small difference for you who are being furloughed.

We have just wrapped up a process therapy group called "Grieving the Child I Never Knew", for women who have lost babies due to miscarriage, abortion or stillbirth. What an amazing group of beautiful courageous women. Honored to have these weeks with you journeying through grief, sorrow, forgiveness, and hope. There is always hope. Remembering the loss is critical to the healing process. Also, finding the words for the loss, saying the words aloud, and knowing your words have been heard are steps along the way to hope and healing. Praying Hope for you today. Blessings, Susie

Prepare-Enrich Counselor Training

Great day of training for Counseling married couples and improving marriages. Thanks to everyone who helped, and to Delta Resources, Inc., for some amazing space for the training. Praying for God to be the healer in the marriages we work with at Journey to Hope! Blessings, Susie

Memorial Day

Reaching out as Memorial Day 2013 approaches and taking a moment to invite you to spend some time this weekend remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. I love these words in the song by Lee Greenwood, as he reflects on this very idea of remembering those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

“And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me. “— Lee Greenwood

Perhaps for you, it is a loved one, or family member you remember, or just remembering those who have paid the price for our freedom. If you have suffered the loss of a loved one as a result of their time in the military, or you have lost someone who served at one time, you may experience grief as you remember.  Dr. Gerald May has something to say about grief that is worth repeating here: “Grief is neither a problem to be solved or a problem to overcome.  It is a sacred expression of love….a sacred sorrow.”  Let your time to remember also be sacred, and do what you can to honor their memory.

I will never forget. I will remember.

Happy Memorial Day!

Blessings, Susie

Mother's Day 2013

Praying for you today, that the day will be a celebration of you, or your Mom, or those who have been Moms to you.

Something that stood out to me about Mothers this year….

“My mom is a never-ending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune.”

Happy Mothers Day to the mothers to be, the mothers that are, the fathers who are mothers and the mothers no longer with us. You are appreciated....

Very thankful today for my Mom, who has always believed in me, who has never given up on the possibility of who I am becoming. She saw in me something I did not always see in myself. Thank you Mom!

Happy Mothers Day to the mothers to be, the mothers that are, the fathers who are mothers and the mothers no longer with us. You are appreciated....

Blessings from Susie and from all of us at Journey to Hope.
